112th Congress: 2011-2012We at Cal's Sporting Armory support S. 75 the Discount Pricing Consumer Protection Act.We think our customers should be aware of what many manufacturers like 5.11 Tactical, Burris, Crimson Trace, L-3 EOTech, FLIR, Laser Devices, Leupold, Maxpedition,
Tapco, and
Trijicon
(just to name a few) are taking part in with their Minimum Advertised
Price policies (also known to many as MAP or UPP). Minimum Advertised
Price policies hinder the sales process of discount pricing to the
consumer. We believe that Minimum Advertised Price policies violate the
Sherman Act. The Leupold & Stevens UPP goes as far as restricting
what many Leupold products can be offered (print/email/verbally) or sold
for. We believe that such policies are a form of price fixing, which
the Sherman Act outlawed.
"Discount Pricing Consumer Protection Act" (S.75)A
bill to restore the rule that agreements between manufacturers and
retailers, distributors, or wholesalers to set the minimum price below
which the manufacturer's product or service cannot be sold violates the
Sherman Act.Sponsor: Sen. Herbert Kohl [D-WI]
